Stress Management with Bath & Body Works

Looking at the meager amount of attention paid to men’s mental health we look at ways to manage the stress by incorporating (and indulging) in the good things in life

Words: Shourya Jain

With statements like “Be a man!”; “Take it like a man!”; “Real men don’t cry”; floating freely in the air we can’t help but discuss stress, men’s mental health and well-being. World Mental Health Day is just around the corner on October 10th. So in order to keep things on a light note, let’s discover ways to use aromatherapy to bust stress (without having to lose the status-quo of being manly). And one of the biggest launches couldn’t have come at a better time to Pune. Bath & Body Works brings its uber luxurious body care products in what seems to be its biggest store in the country. Let’s indulge in the finer things in life; here’s how:

Soak it

Getting ready for a demanding day ahead calls out for fragrances that will keep you fresh throughout the day. Vanilla or cool scents like lime and sugared citrus will keep you crisp. Post a hectic day at work can be wrapped up with a major cleanse not just of the body but of thoughts as well. Calming aroma such as lavender has proven to be the ultimate soothing agent to the mind and soul. Shower gels are excellent cleansers and ensure total hygiene. We recommend using shower gels with mild aromas at night so it doesn’t over power your senses.

Pat Dry

One thing that we often realise is that people forget how important it is to stay hydrated. Not only on the inside but on the outside as well. Moisturisers not only hydrate your skin but also lock in the fragrances to the skin and keeps it smelling nice. So post bathing, pat dry the body with a huge fluffy towel and then aim at nourishing each body part with a moisturiser. Chamomile is perfect to use post that late night shower its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties will keep any fungal infections from your toes (yes, toes), the least pampered area of the body, at bay.

Our Favourites: Noir Ultra Shea Body Cream and Bourbon Ultra Shea Body Cream

Inhale and Relax

Now that you have a dry, clean and moisturised canvas, time for few finishing touches. Woody fragrances like mahogany and oak have insecticidal and antiseptic properties. Products with woody fragrances act as great deodorants and are preferred to be worn for a day out! And when you’re looking to unwind and relax after that long day out you cannot go wrong with tranquil fragrances such as eucalyptus and spearmint. Candles are considered as one of the best fragrance diffusers. And they also have the charm of adding to the ambience.
