Audi e-tron range launched in India

Audi marks its entry in the luxury EV segment with the launch of e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 in India

Audi has launched the e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 in India today at a starting price of Rs 99.99 lakh, Rs 1.16 crore and Rs 1.17 crore respectively. All the prices are ex-showroom, and include the cost of an 11kW standard charger that comes with the e-tron. However, the prospective buyers who buy any of these cars from the e-tron range in 2021, will also get a complimentary wall box charger with the car, says Audi India.

While the entire lineup is all-electric, the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 get a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which propel the Audis from 0-100 mark in just 5.7 seconds producing a peak output of 300 kW. On the other hand, the e-tron 50 gets a 71 kWh battery pack, which produces a total output of 230kW and hits a ton in 6.8 seconds.  The WLTP claimed range for e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 ranges between 359-484 kilometres while the e-tron 50 is claimed to get the range between 264-379 kilometres.

Needless to say that the entire Audi e-tron range is loaded with advanced features such as digital matrix LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, gesture-controlled boot lid, virtual cockpit with 31.24 cm fully digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, a 16 speaker 3D surround system with Bang and Olufsen audio system, ambient lighting inside the cabin, air purifier with dual fragrance options, a four-zone climate control system and a 360-degree surround camera. Looking at the above features, it looks like Audi has left no stone unturned in offering premium features in its cars for the prospective buyers who are willing to contribute to a cleaner and a greener environment while travelling with utmost comfort.

Speaking at the launch, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “Today is a big day for us as we launch the e-tron brand in India. Under the e-tron brand – we are launching not one, but three electric SUVs that begin our electrification journey. The Audi e-tron 50, the Audi e-tron 55, and the Audi e-tron Sportback 55 are the perfect confluence of luxury, zero emissions, performance and everyday usability. With the three offerings, we have a proposition for every type of EV customer in the small but growing luxury SUV space. To ease the transition to electric mobility – we are offering several benefits and packages including after-sales, charging and ownership. To take it a step forward, we are also offering a best-in-class 3-year buyback. This is just the start of Audi India’s electric journey and you will hear from us very, very shortly on our next EV offering.”

He also added, “Globally, the Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback continue to be the top-selling electric SUVs. There is a clear road map towards sustainable mobility and as Audi India; we are committed to developing an EV ecosystem. We have agreements in place that cover aspects, right from setting up charging infrastructure to end-of-life battery recycling. The future is electric and Audi India is ready for it.”

As for now, Audi India will be offering a standard warranty of two years and a battery warranty of eight years or 1,60,000 km with the e-trons. The warranties can be extended up to an optional period of 2+2 years or 2+3 years, where the customers also get complimentary 5-year roadside assistance plans with their Audi’s.
